Pearl Jam - Dark Matter (black vinyl)

$38.99

Pearl Jam's latest sonic offering, Dark Matter, arrived on April 19, 2024, marking their twelfth studio album. Released through Monkeywrench Records and Republic Records, the album buzzed with anticipation after the band hinted at a return to their heavier roots.

Recording in the Spirit of Camaraderie

The creative process behind Dark Matter unfolded over three intense weeks in 2023 at Shangri-La Studios, Malibu. Described as channeling "the shared spirit of lifelong creative confidants and brothers," the recording sessions captured a raw energy, with the band playing as if everything was on the line.

Matt Cameron Announces Completion and Andrew Watt's Influence

News of the album's completion came from drummer Matt Cameron in late November 2023. He revealed Andrew Watt's involvement in the project, hinting that the record was "mastered, mixed, and ready to go." Following up in January 2024, guitarist Mike McCready confirmed the album's heavier direction and credited Watt for a more efficient recording process compared to their previous album, Gigaton.

A Surprise Debut and Eddie Vedder's Enthusiasm

Pearl Jam, along with Andrew Watt, unveiled Dark Matter for a select group of fans at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on January 31st, 2024. While keeping lyrics and song titles under wraps, the band showcased the new material. This event was marked by Eddie Vedder's enthusiastic declaration of Dark Matter being their best work yet, expressing immense pride in the band's accomplishment.
